 before Alamitu has been told by doctors that the tumor has not spread into her body. Her heart is working hard to pump blood to the tumor. Though it is not malignant, the tumor causes Alamitu great pain. She cannot sleep on her back, it is sensitive to the touch, and makes it next to impossible for her to work. She is a very able person, less the tumor. She has to beg to survive, and though begging is common in her society, she wants desperately to be able to support herself. She has hopes of getting married, and having a family of her own. The tumor makes this dream near to impossible. |
